Chery Tiggo 9
The Chery Tiggo 9 is the brand’s flagship, a larger seven-seat SUV that joined the Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 as Chery’s halo model in the UK, aimed at buyers cross-shopping the Kia Sorento, Hyundai Santa Fe, Volkswagen Tayron and Peugeot 5008, and undercutting all of them significantly on price.
Unlike its smaller siblings, the Tiggo 9 is offered exclusively as a plug-in hybrid, using Chery’s Super Hybrid (CSH) system: a 1.5 litre petrol engine paired with two electric motors and a 34.46 kWh battery, a genuinely large pack for a plug-in hybrid, roughly the same size as a full battery electric Nissan Leaf’s. Combined output is 428 PS, enough for a 0 to 60 mph time of 5.6 seconds, genuinely rapid for a seven-seat family SUV. Electric-only range stretches to as much as 91 miles, among the longest of any plug-in hybrid on sale, with a total combined range of around 650 miles between the battery and a full tank.
Inside, the Tiggo 9 comes generously equipped as standard, with a 15.6 inch touchscreen, 10.25 inch digital instrument display, head-up display, a 50W cooled wireless phone charger and a 14 speaker Sony sound system, running on 20 inch alloy wheels.
The Chery Tiggo 9 is available in a single Summit trim, priced from £43,105, and comes with a 7 year vehicle warranty.
