Poer Overview

Poer is GWM’s pickup truck line, sitting alongside Ora, Haval, Tank and Wey in Great Wall Motor’s family of brands. The name is spelt Poer but pronounced “power”, and where Tank covers GWM’s off-road SUVs, Poer is the workhorse end of the range, built for load-carrying, towing and farm and fleet use.

Poer arrived in the UK in September 2025 with the Poer300, a diesel double-cab pickup that marked GWM’s first return to the British pickup market since the Steed left it in the mid-2010s. It’s sold through GWM’s existing UK dealer network and priced from £31,495 excluding VAT, undercutting most of the established names in the class, with a 5 year, 125,000 mile warranty. Elsewhere, the same truck is known as the GWM Cannon and has been on sale in Australia and New Zealand since 2022, where it has become a regular top ten seller among pickups.

One thing worth knowing for UK buyers: most double-cab pickups are now taxed like ordinary cars rather than as working vehicles, so the tax treatment matters if you’re buying one as a company vehicle rather than for genuine work use. The Poer300 is offered in the UK as a double-cab only, though GWM has said it’s looking at a single-cab option that would take it back into van territory.
