The UK launch never really found its footing. Registrations were genuinely dismal throughout, just 6 cars in 2024, 31 in 2025, and 26 more between January and May 2026, fewer than 150 in total across the whole period, against a backdrop of far more successful Chinese rivals like BYD, MG, Jaecoo and Omoda selling in the same market at the same time. Reviewers were largely unimpressed too, Electrifying.com’s early verdict was blunt, and the sales figures never recovered from that first impression, even after Skywell issued a substantially revised 2026-model-year BE11 with updated pricing from £31,990 following journalist and customer feedback.

In June 2026, Innovation Automotive abruptly ceased trading, citing a lack of investment from its parent company needed to stay competitive in the UK’s crowded market. That was Skywell’s sole UK importer, so its closure meant an immediate halt to new BE11 sales here, leaving existing owners in a genuine holding pattern on warranty, servicing and parts support while Skywell searches for a new UK distributor. Remaining unsold stock was passed to a third-party used car dealer, V12 Sports and Classic, and has since been advertised at steep discounts, some examples over £20,000 below the original list price. Skywell itself hasn’t collapsed, and continues selling in other markets including parts of the Middle East, but its wider European push looks genuinely shaky too, its German importer entered administration in 2025, and the brand appears to have gone quiet in Poland and Romania as well. As things stand, Skywell has no active UK sales channel, though the brand has said it intends to find a new one.
