Rising R7

The Rising R7 was Rising Auto’s first genuinely original product (earlier cars had been rebadged Roewe models), a coupe-styled mid-size electric SUV that launched in 2022 with a level of technology that was genuinely ambitious for the price at the time. It measures 4,900mm long with a 2,950mm wheelbase, similar in size to the NIO EC6, and offers battery-swap capability, with SAIC saying a full swap can be completed in as little as 2.5 minutes.

The top all-wheel-drive trim produces a combined 544 hp and 700 Nm of torque from two motors, reaching 62mph in as little as 3.8 seconds on the original launch specification. Battery options span 77kWh to 90kWh, providing a CLTC range of up to 670km on later, updated versions, which also brought a lower 0.238 Cd drag coefficient. Standard technology included a 43-inch triple-screen dashboard, a Huawei-sourced augmented reality head-up display, and an optional Luminar LiDAR sensor with a 500-metre detection range, processed by an Nvidia Orin chip.

The Rising R7 starts from around 189,900 yuan in China, roughly Β£20,800 converted, for the most recent, most affordable trim level. It has not launched in the UK. Following Rising Auto’s absorption into Roewe in November 2024, the R7 now continues as part of Roewe’s own range rather than under a separate Rising badge.
