Trumpchi GS8
The Trumpchi GS8 is the brand’s flagship SUV, in continuous production since 2016 and, at launch, the largest model Trumpchi had ever built. It was designed by Fan Zhang, a former Mercedes-Benz designer, and debuted at both the Beijing and Detroit auto shows, a genuine statement of ambition for a brand still relatively new at the time.
A 2.0 litre turbocharged engine produces 198 hp and 320 Nm of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic gearbox and a choice of front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The GS8 spawned a smaller five-seat sibling, the GS7 (later renamed GS8S), and was fully redesigned for its second generation in 2021 with a longer wheelbase and wider body. Internationally, it’s sold under the GAC Motor name rather than Trumpchi.
The Trumpchi GS8 has not launched in the UK. It’s sold across a genuine spread of export markets under the GAC Motor badge, including parts of the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Africa, though no UK plans have been announced.
