Onvo is NIO’s mass-market family brand, sitting between the budget-focused Firefly and NIO’s own premium range, roughly the same relationship BMW has with Mini. Where NIO’s main brand chases luxury buyers with battery-swap technology and high-end interiors, Onvo is built for families who want spacious, well-equipped SUVs at a more accessible price, while still inheriting NIO’s smart driving tech and battery-swap network.

Onvo Overview
Onvo launched its first model, the L60 mid-size SUV, in September 2024, and has since expanded quickly with the larger L90 in July 2025 and the L80 in May 2026, filling out a genuinely broad range of family SUVs in under two years. Sales have grown rapidly too, Onvo delivered over 12,000 vehicles in May 2026 alone, up more than 91% year-on-year, helped by an aggressive cycle of updates bringing NIO’s in-house Shenji NX9031 self-driving chip and LiDAR hardware across the whole range.
NIO’s founder William Li has acknowledged that low brand awareness remains Onvo’s biggest structural challenge, most buyers simply haven’t heard of it yet compared with better-known rivals. Onvo has not launched outside China, and no international or UK plans have been announced.
