Li Auto L9
The Li Auto L9 is the brand’s flagship, a six-seat full-size SUV that was significantly updated for its second generation, launching in China in May 2026 with a considerably larger battery, in-house computing hardware, and genuinely advanced chassis technology on its top trim. It’s a substantial car, just over 5.25 metres long with a 3.1 metre wheelbase, competing directly against the Huawei-backed Aito M9, alongside the more powerful Zeekr 9X and Denza N9.
Like every Li Auto model, the L9 uses a range-extender setup: a third-generation, in-house 1.5 litre turbocharged engine acts purely as a generator, working alongside a dual-motor system producing a combined 563 hp and 710 Nm of torque, enough for 0 to 62mph in 4.9 seconds. A 72.7 kWh battery provides up to 260 miles of CLTC electric-only range, with a combined range approaching 1,025 miles once the petrol generator is included. The range-topping Livis trim adds genuinely cutting-edge technology: fully independent 800V active suspension capable of raising and lowering each wheel individually, a full wire-controlled chassis with electronic mechanical braking, and dual in-house Mach M100 chips providing 2,560 TOPS of computing power.
The Li Auto L9 starts from 459,800 yuan in China, around £50,300 converted, rising to 509,800 yuan for the Livis trim. It has not launched in the UK, though an international version has been described as expected later in 2026.
