Seres Overview

Seres is a Chinese manufacturer that builds its own commercial and passenger vehicles, but the name most people actually encounter is AITO, its luxury EV partnership with Huawei. Huawei doesn’t own a stake in Seres, its role is purely as a deep technology partner, supplying the driver assistance software, sensors and smart cockpit tech that AITO leans on heavily in its marketing, a similar arrangement to the one Huawei has with Changan’s Avatr.

AITO’s flagship, the M9, has become a genuine phenomenon in China, holding the number one position in the country’s 500,000-yuan-plus luxury SUV segment for 21 consecutive months, and between January 2024 and January 2026 it reportedly outsold the combined deliveries of the BMW X5, X7, Mercedes-Benz GLE and GLS in that price bracket. The wider AITO range has expanded quickly too, adding the smaller M7, M6 and M8 models alongside the M9 flagship, all sharing Huawei’s ADS driver assistance system and, on most models, standard LiDAR.

AITO has just begun its first genuine steps outside China, debuting in the UAE in February 2026 under the badge “AITO 9,” its first officially authorised sale outside its home market. Seres has not launched in the UK, and no UK plans have been announced, though the brand’s rapid international expansion elsewhere makes it one worth watching.
