IM LS8
The IM LS8 is a genuine flagship-tier SUV, sold in Australia as the MG IM8, and described there as a potential rival to the Audi Q8 and BMW X7 at a considerably lower price. It launched in China in April 2026 to a genuinely strong reception, racking up 10,000 pre-orders within 45 minutes, and over 8,000 firm orders within the first hour of full sale.
Power comes from IM’s “Stellar” extended-range system, pairing a 1.5 litre turbocharged range extender with an 800-volt electrical platform and a 66kWh battery, giving up to 430km of pure electric range on the CLTC cycle and a genuinely enormous 1,605km once the 60 litre fuel tank is included. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup produces a combined 390kW (523hp) and 670Nm, enough for 0-62mph in around 4.7 seconds despite the car’s considerable size. Standard equipment includes a full steer-by-wire four-wheel steering system, previously reserved for IM’s flagship LS9, along with air suspension and four-piston brake calipers.
The IM LS8 starts from 249,800 yuan in China, around £27,300 converted, rising to 299,800 yuan for the range-topping trim, around £32,760 converted. It has not launched in the UK, and no UK price or launch date has been announced.
