Omoda 5
The Omoda 5 was the car that introduced Omoda to the UK back in 2024, and it remains the brand’s most affordable model. It’s a compact SUV roughly the same size as a Nissan Qashqai, originally sold with a fairly powerful turbocharged petrol engine as its only option.
In 2026, Omoda extended the range with a genuine self charging hybrid, badged SHS-H, alongside a detuned, cheaper petrol version. The hybrid pairs a 1.5 litre turbo engine with an electric motor for a combined 221 hp, enough for a 0 to 62 mph time of 7.9 seconds, while returning significantly better fuel economy than the petrol only car and, according to Omoda, a total combined range of more than 650 miles between fill ups.
Standard equipment is generous for the price, including items like a panoramic sunroof and a 360 degree parking camera on higher trims, and every Omoda 5 comes with the brand’s long 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty. It’s a car built almost entirely around value, aimed squarely at buyers cross shopping with the MG HS and Nissan Qashqai on price rather than outright polish.
