Omoda 9
The Omoda 9 is the brand’s flagship, a large plug in hybrid SUV that Omoda positions against premium rivals like the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC, despite costing tens of thousands of pounds less. It arrived in the UK in 2025 as the most expensive and most powerful car the brand has ever sold.
Every Omoda 9 uses the same plug in hybrid system, a 1.5 litre petrol engine working alongside three electric motors and four wheel drive, for a combined output of 443 hp. That’s enough for a genuinely rapid 0 to 62 mph time of 4.9 seconds, closer to a performance car than a family SUV. A large 34.5 kWh battery gives an electric only range of up to 93 miles, among the longest of any plug in hybrid sold in the UK, and supports DC rapid charging at up to 70 kW.
Standard equipment runs to heated and ventilated seats front and rear, a panoramic sunroof and a premium sound system, all backed by Omoda’s 7 year, 100,000 mile warranty. It’s an ambitious car, one that asks buyers to seriously reconsider what a premium SUV badge is actually worth.
