Denza B8
The Denza B8 is a genuinely serious off-road plug-in hybrid SUV, sold in China under BYD’s Fangchengbao off-road sub-brand as the Bao 8 before being rebadged Denza for export. It’s already established across several right-hand-drive markets, including Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia, giving it a genuinely proven track record well beyond China.
Built on a body-on-frame chassis for proper off-road capability, the B8 pairs a 2.0 litre turbocharged petrol engine with electric motors for a combined output as high as 748PS in its most powerful form. It’s offered in both six and seven-seat layouts, with computer-controlled front and rear axles and height-adjustable hydraulic suspension front and rear, genuinely serious hardware for tackling difficult terrain rather than just looking the part.
In Australia, the Denza B8 starts from around AU$97,990 plus on-road costs for the six-seat version. It has not launched in the UK, and no UK price or launch date has been announced.
