Denza Bao 5
The Denza Bao 5 is the first SUV from Denza in the UK, and a genuinely different proposition from the rest of the range. It’s a tough, boxy off-roader built on a proper ladder-frame chassis, aimed squarely at the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser rather than being another estate, coupe or MPV like the Denza models launched so far. It’s the same model sold in other markets as the Denza B5.
Power comes from Denza’s DMO Dual Mode Off-road plug-in hybrid system, pairing a 1.5 litre petrol engine with dual electric motors for a combined 544PS (537hp) and 760Nm, enough for 0-62mph in as little as 4.8 seconds. The engine’s main job is to keep the 31.8kWh Blade Battery topped up, and that battery is built into the chassis. Electric-only range figures of between 56 and 62 miles have been quoted, with a combined range of over 500 miles, and DC charging at up to 100kW takes the battery from 30 to 80 percent in about 16 minutes. Off-road hardware includes 16 driving modes and mechanical differential locks.
Two trims are offered. The Elegance comes with 18 inch wheels, fixed side steps, roof rails and a 15.6 inch touchscreen with Google built in. The Ultimate adds 20 inch wheels, electrically deploying side steps, Nappa leather, ventilated rear seats and DiSus-P air suspension, which gives 140mm of ride height adjustment. The Denza Bao 5 costs £69,500 for the Elegance and £78,880 for the Ultimate, and orders are open now, with first customer deliveries due in early 2027.
