The MG ZS EV was, for several years, one of the most affordable electric SUVs sold in Britain, and a big part of why MG became one of the fastest growing car brands in the country during the early 2020s. It first arrived in the UK in 2019 with a 44.5 kWh battery and a WLTP range of around 163 miles, respectable for the time, if modest by today’s standards.
A significant update in 2022 fixed the range issue, introducing a Standard Range version with a 51 kWh battery, and a Long Range version with a much larger 72.6 kWh battery good for up to 273 miles WLTP, alongside a redesigned front end and improved charging.
By 2025, though, the ZS EV had reached the end of its life. MG replaced it with an all new model called the MG S5 EV, built on the same Modular Scalable Platform that underpins the MG4, offering a bigger battery lineup, faster charging and a more modern interior. The ZS EV’s petrol and hybrid siblings continue on in the MG ZS range in various markets, but the fully electric ZS EV itself is no longer sold new.
