The MG3 is MG’s smallest model, a supermini positioned to compete with cars like the Renault Clio, Toyota Yaris and Vauxhall Corsa. The third generation MG3, launched in 2024, marked a fairly significant shift for the model, since it initially launched exclusively as a hybrid, badged Hybrid+, before a simpler and cheaper pure petrol version was added to the range in 2025 for buyers who wanted the lowest possible price.
The Hybrid+ system pairs a 1.5 litre petrol engine with a 100 kW electric motor and a small self charging battery, switching automatically between electric, hybrid and engine only driving depending on conditions, without ever needing to be plugged in. The combined output of 192 hp is unusually strong for this class of car, giving the MG3 Hybrid+ a 0 to 62 mph time of around 8 seconds, quicker than most of its hybrid rivals.
Buyers can choose between SE and Trophy trim, both fairly generously equipped by supermini standards, with the Trophy adding items like heated seats and a heated steering wheel. Backed by MG’s 7 year warranty, the MG3 Hybrid+ has positioned itself as one of the most value focused hybrid superminis currently sold in the UK.
