BYD Seal 08
The BYD Seal 08 is the genuine flagship sedan of BYD’s Ocean lineup, sitting above the regular Seal covered elsewhere on this site, and the first BYD model to offer flash charging as standard across every trim, both plug-in hybrid and fully electric. It launched in China in July 2026 as a proper statement of intent, built to compete with cars considerably more expensive than its own price tag suggests.
Both powertrains use BYD’s second-generation Blade Battery. The plug-in hybrid spans three variants, from a 400km CLTC range Premium trim up to an all-wheel-drive Flagship offering 350km of electric-only range alongside its petrol engine. The fully electric version is the genuine headline act, though, with the range-topping Flagship trim offering a claimed 905km of CLTC range, among the longest of any BYD sold anywhere.
The BYD Seal 08 starts from 196,900 yuan in China, around £21,520 converted, rising to 239,900 yuan for the range-topping all-wheel-drive electric Flagship, around £26,220 converted. It has not launched outside China, and no international plans have been announced.
