BYD Han

The BYD Han is one of the longest-running models in BYD’s Dynasty series, a large sedan that’s been quietly competing with the likes of the Tesla Model 3 and BMW 3 Series in China since 2020. It was refreshed for 2026 as the Han Smart-Driving Edition, gaining BYD’s fifth-generation hybrid technology, a longer electric-only range, and the brand’s DiPilot 300 driver assistance system as standard on higher trims, built around an Nvidia Orin-based computing platform.

Two powertrains are offered. The DM-i plug-in hybrid now manages 245km of CLTC electric-only range, nearly double the previous generation, with a combined range exceeding 1,300km between the battery and a full tank. The fully electric version uses an 800V platform for a CLTC range of up to 635km on the long-range variant, and can charge from 30 to 80% in around 30 minutes. A range-topping “Flash Charge Premium Edition” pushes CLTC range even further, to around 705km.

The Han starts from around 159,800 yuan in China, roughly £17,500 converted, rising to around 230,000 yuan for the best-equipped trims. It has not launched, and has no confirmed plans to launch, in the UK. BYD had originally teased a UK version back in 2022 alongside the Atto 3’s launch here, but that never materialised, and the Han remains absent from BYD UK’s current lineup.
