BYD Han L
The BYD Han L sits above the standard Han as a genuinely larger, more flagship-oriented full-size sedan, unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in January 2025. It’s noticeably bigger in every dimension than the regular Han, and comes with styling clearly designed to look the part of a flagship, a sculpted bonnet with dual creases, hidden door handles, and a roof-mounted LiDAR unit feeding BYD’s most advanced driver assistance hardware.
Three powertrain flavours are offered. The DM-i plug-in hybrid pairs a 1.5 litre turbocharged petrol engine with a single electric motor for 154 hp combined with the engine, or the sportier DM-p adds a second motor for meaningfully more power, both offering around 170km of electric-only range from a 29.5kWh battery. The fully electric version is the genuine headline act, using an 83.2kWh battery on BYD’s 1,000-volt Super e platform, with the rear-wheel-drive version reaching 701km of CLTC range and 0 to 62mph in just 2.7 seconds, while the all-wheel-drive version trades some range (601km) for a combined 1,086hp. DC charging on the EV supports a 30 to 80% top-up in around 27 minutes.
The Han L starts from around 194,800 yuan in China, roughly £21,300 converted, rising to about 264,800 yuan for the best-equipped EV trim. It has not launched in the UK, and no UK plans have been announced for it specifically.
